Five years ago, as the North Bay fires devastated schools, homes, hospitals, and local businesses, our community rallied to respond. Together, we raised more than $33 million in emergency relief funds to respond to the immediate crisis and provide long-term stability for those hardest hit.
Caritas Center, a new facility that opened this fall in downtown Santa Rosa, offers comprehensive on-site services for individuals and families experiencing housing instability, including a family shelter for nearly 200 people, a healthcare clinic, a childcare center, and drop-in services. The center is run by Catholic Charities, one of 48 local nonprofits Tipping Point supported with the fire relief funds.
“Caritas Village is a shining example of how working collaboratively and decisively can help our neighbors and communities bounce back when the unexpected happens,” said Sam Cobbs, CEO of Tipping Point Community. “Hundreds of people can now find a home through Caritas Village services. It’s a powerful model of how we can rebuild stronger and ensure that every member of the community has the opportunity to prosper.”
