“Our work is rooted in the belief that every single one of us deserves the best of what this country has to offer.”
– Maritza Maldonado
Founder + Executive Director
Amigos de Guadalupe Center for Justice and Empowerment
What’s the Bay Area’s best-kept secret? If you ask Maritza Maldonado, she’ll tell you it’s her hometown of East San Jose. And it’s not because of the food scene, or the weather—it’s because of the people.
As Founder and Executive Director of Amigos de Guadalupe Center for Justice and Empowerment, Maritza and her organization work to support those who are the backbone of our communities. “We are your nannies, your bus drivers, your housekeepers,” shared Maritza. A Tipping Point grantee since 2021, Amigos provides interim housing support, immigration services, education, and youth services to the East San Jose community.
Tipping Point is proud to support leaders like Maritza, who are tirelessly transforming our region for the better. Maritza is one of the 50 extraordinary executive directors in the Tipping Point portfolio whose work reminds us that everyone in the Bay Area deserves the opportunity to prosper.
