Tipping Point prevents and ends homelessness by working with organizations that give individuals the right support at the right time.
Today, more than 30,000 people across the Bay Area don’t have a place to sleep at night. A home is an essential need to building a strong foundation for a person’s life and future. Tipping Point works to prevent and end homelessness by investing in innovative housing solutions, research, and policies that create more affordable housing and protect tenants who are on the brink of losing their homes.
Housing Grantees
Tipping Point believes in the importance of investing* in both direct service organizations with strong connections to the community, and in organizations that will advocate for policies that will produce more affordable housing, preserve existing affordable housing, and protect low-income tenants.

Non-Profit Funding
What We Fund
- We invite 1 to 2 new organizations per year to join our housing portfolio.
- We fund direct service organizations that help our neighbors experiencing homelessness or those who are close to becoming homeless.
- We prioritize organizations in Alameda, Contra Costa, and Santa Clara Counties, where there are the most people experiencing homelessness and/or the least services.
- We also prioritize organizations led by people of color, recognizing that Black, Latinx, AAPI, and indigenous-led organizations have historically been underinvested in by philanthropy.
What We Don’t Fund
- We don’t fund capital projects to develop shelter or housing, conferences or charitable events, or emergency food and shelter.
- We are also less likely to fund organizations in San Francisco, San Mateo, and Marin Counties at this time.
