Born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico, Itzel moved to the Bay Area in 2006. Itzel believes comprehensive investments in early childhood, education, housing, and employment strategies are essential to foster upward economic mobility for families and individuals experiencing poverty. She joined Tipping Point Community to amplify her efforts to build effective partnerships and strengthen strategies that support this mission.
Before her role at Tipping Point, Itzel held senior leadership positions supporting strategic communications, storytelling, and fundraising strategies for First 5 Alameda County, East Bay Community Foundation, and The Unity Council. Itzel earned a B.A. in Communications Studies from San Francisco State University and a Master of Communications Management from the University of Southern California. Outside work, Itzel enjoys exploring hiking trails, reading historical novels, and cooking traditional Mexican food with a modern twist.
